NIRCO, a leading recovery community organization in Lake County, IL, is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our Board of Directors as Secretary. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team committed to supporting individuals and families affected by Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and Mental Health (MH) challenges.

Our mission is to create a strong, recovery-oriented community where individuals can access the resources, support, and care they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. Position Overview: Board Secretary
As the Secretary of NIRCO’s Board of Directors, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of board activities. Your responsibilities will include:
Record Keeping: Accurately documenting the minutes of all board meetings and maintaining records of board activities.
Communication: Facilitating communication between board members, ensuring that all are informed and aligned on key decisions and actions.
Governance Support: Assisting in the organization and preparation of board materials, helping to uphold the governance standards of NIRCO.
Active Participation: Engaging in strategic discussions and decision-making processes to help guide the direction of NIRCO.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for an individual who is:
Passionate About Recovery: A deep commitment to NIRCO’s mission and the well-being of those affected by SUD and MH.
Detail-Oriented: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and record board activities with precision.
Collaborative: A team player who can work effectively with other board members and contribute to a positive, productive board culture.
Experienced: Prior experience in a board or leadership role is preferred, though not required. Familiarity with the recovery community or nonprofit governance is a plus.
