NIRCO's One-Day Peer Support Training: Recovery Education Series
Northern Illinois Recovery Community Organization (NIRCO) is excited to offer a One-Day Peer Support Training as part of our Recovery Education Series on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at NIRCO’s Hub in Waukegan.
This in-person training is designed for community members, peer supporters, frontline staff, and others who want to strengthen their ability to provide compassionate, effective support to individuals seeking recovery.
Peer recovery support specialists bring something uniquely powerful to the recovery process: a combination of lived experience, specialized training, and practical human service skills. By drawing on their own recovery experiences while maintaining professional standards and boundaries, peer supporters can help individuals navigate challenges, connect with resources, build resilience, and move forward in recovery.
What Participants Will Learn
During this training, participants will explore topics including:
Mental health disorders, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders
Treatment delivery methods, rules, and regulations
The Code of Ethics for CRSS/CPRS professionals
Special populations and cultural diversity
Core functions and performance domains of peer recovery support
Skills for providing compassionate and effective warm handoffs
