Lunch & LifeSkills:

  • May 16, 2025
  • 2 min read

Starting May 17, 2025, Northern Illinois Recovery Community Organization (NIRCO) is launching a transformative new offering through its Justice Impacted Families Program—a Saturday enrichment series called Lunch & Lifeskills. Held every other Saturday through July 26, this program isn’t just about eating—it’s about elevating.

Over a shared meal, this lunchtime series will help individuals grow personally and practically by equipping them with vital life skills that foster independence, resilience, and long-term success. Whether you're newly navigating life after incarceration, supporting a loved one, or simply looking for tools to help you thrive—this space was created for you.

What to Expect

This isn’t your average workshop. Lunch & Lifeskills is:

  • Welcoming to all walks of life

  • Rooted in community and shared experiences

  • Practical and solution-focused

  • Strength-based—building on what you already bring to the table

  • Free of judgment (and full of encouragement)

Each session offers a chance to unpack real-life challenges and apply practical tools to overcome them. From budgeting and communication to navigating transitions and setting boundaries—these are lifeskills with real-life impact.

Because you're not alone. Because it’s time to invest in yourself. Because healing, growth, and success are all possible—and even better when you have a community that sees you.

Bring your hunger (both literal and metaphorical), and leave with something real: new skills, new connections, and a renewed sense of purpose.
